My name is Mari Lashawn, a multidisciplinary artist from Chicago and the creator of Meanwhile Magazine. I explore the power of the present moment using music, mirrors and other mediums to heal my mind in the meanwhile . My work embraces self reflection both literal and metaphorical. I aspire to transform sound, movement and storytelling into tools for growth. Instead of chasing an ideal future, I highlight the importance of where I am now; showing that healing and transformation happens where my feet are planted, and not the places I think I should be. Through art I’m reclaiming the meanwhile and the elusive process of becoming.
